A ‘dynamic’ biofilm can stop bacteria from entering the gut

An international team of scientists says they’ve found a new way to fight bacterial invasion in the gut: a membrane.

The team, led by a team of researchers at the University of Edinburgh, published their findings in Nature Microbiology.

They used a specialised strain of bacteria called Escherichia coli (E.

coli) and a membrane made of a compound called a biofilm.

The biofilm acts like a barrier between the gut and the outside world, preventing bacteria from invading the gut.

“When the bacteria are out in the environment, they’re going to spread, and they’re really not going to be able to go in the same direction as you,” Dr Matthew Tapp said.

“It’s a very effective way to combat the spread of bacteria because it’s so flexible and it’s able to work in a very different way.”

The researchers say that the biofilm may be a new strategy for fighting the spread and proliferation of pathogens.

“If you have a biofilms that are very flexible, then they can be used to control the spread,” Dr Tapp explained.

“That way you’re preventing the spread to other parts of the body.”

In addition to the biofilmic barrier, the team says they have developed an anti-bacterial coating that can block bacterial growth.

“We’re using this new material to coat the membranes in a way that prevents bacteria from being able to get inside the membrane,” Dr Paul Stott said.

Dr Tapp has been working on the idea of creating biofilmmakers for about three years.

“I wanted to develop a new technology to protect the intestinal tract from bacterial invasion.

I’ve been working with other scientists on this, and I realised that I could do this using my own technology.””

I knew there was a need for something that could be used in the clinic to treat people who are suffering from colon cancer,” he said.

The biofilm coating is being used by Dr Tapps to treat colon cancer patients.

“The patients have to be in the hospital for up to two weeks to get a good treatment,” Dr Stott explained.

The coating was initially designed to be applied to the lining of the stomach to stop the growth of bacteria, but Dr Taps team says it’s now being used to protect people in the digestive tract from the spread.

“This is an example of an innovative technology that’s being used in clinical trials to treat some people with colon cancer, and the patients are now being treated in the lab,” Dr Jules Stott told AAP.

“What we see is that we are able to do this, because it works and it works well.”

The coating is currently being tested on people in their 30s.

Dr Stott is also working on a bio-film coating for people with Crohn’s disease, which is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr Jules Tapp is also developing a coating for the human gut to protect against the spread, but she’s not working on developing a bio film coating for Crohn disease.
